I've already covered what the Castro signing means for this new era of the Twins, and why he makes sense as an ideal catcher for the organization here and here respectively. Minnesota gave Castro an opportunity to address the fan base on Twitter recently by answering questions with the hashtag #AskJason.
Here are some of the highlights:
Twins Territory is among the most passionate fanbases in the game of baseball. It will be fun to see Jason's contribution both on and off the field.the community and passion for developing a winning atmosphere with the talent that is already here is what drew me to the Twins. https://t.co/VAGtYMQakD— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
I'm guessing the California mountains don't have much on Minnesota winters, but you have to appreciate a willing mind.We are excited for the new adventure and spend quite a bit of time in the mountains in CA so we're getting used to the cold. https://t.co/3BDklpE3xK— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
As a pitch framer, Castro no doubt incorporates advanced analytics into his game.plays a factor in developing game plan between the pitcher that day and trying to align his strengths while attacking the hitters weaknesses https://t.co/832D7gCWte— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
A personal and team achievement each, Castro has a history of experience across multiple different levels of achievements.Probably a tie between making the 2013 AL All Star team and making the playoffs with Houston in 2015. https://t.co/rtMAQIfVRj— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
C'mon Twins Territorians, send him some suggestions.Big fan of dining out, so what are some of the go-to restaurants in Minneapolis? https://t.co/i8ChbAS6az— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
McCullers has one of the filthiest curveballs in the game, so it's not at all surprising that the former Astros teammate gets the nod here.Lance McCullers is one that comes to mind as some of the best stuff I've caught...don't tell him I said that though https://t.co/vlSP3ci6K3— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
It sure didn't take long for Jason to meet Sid...Only one so far. https://t.co/U6Qe6Ipcpu— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
And this is where Jason's Midwest education starts! What's Hotdish??? https://t.co/zRUokqTRUr— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) November 30, 2016
Castro will look to help the Twins pitching staff improve upon some league worst numbers next season, and he should be expected to be quite the upgrade from veteran Kurt Suzuki. Inked for the next three years, here's to hoping Castro is a part of the next Minnesota turnaround. Give him a follow on Twitter at @J_Castro15
